The National Trust’s aim is to “protect special places in England, Wales and Northern Ireland - forever and for everyone.” We have partnered with them to create The National Trust Discovery Programme, an exciting and innovative range of learning activities for all to enjoy.
For adults we have created Lecture Lunches, a series of lectures that allow those with a shared passion to come together, meet others and engage with special guest speakers on the arts, history and geography.
Families and those with a taste for the dramatic will love Outdoor Theatre, a magical and unforgettable experience for children and adults as the curtain rises against a backdrop of castles and historic houses across the country.
And at many National Trust properties we have Tracker Activity Packs that encourage the whole family to have fun exploring and learning more about the properties they visit.
We also want to encourage links between The National Trust and schools. To enable this we are supporting the School Arts Partnership, a highly creative project which links schools to a local Trust house or garden allowing students to work on related arts projects.
And to give schoolchildren a sense of ownership and involvement in protecting our heritage the Guardianship Scheme gives children a direct link to the management and conservation of a property – they become, quite literally, its guardians.
